NCD Alliance

We are pleased to announce the launch of our Annual Report 2014-2015. It offers a snapshot of the activities and achievements of the NCD Alliance and our extensive constituency over the last year. It also includes a summary of financial statements.

Against the backdrop of the 68th World Health Assembly, the NCD Alliance will hold on 18 May a high-level panel discussion on the means to deliver on ambitious targets for health and NCDs in the post-2015 development agenda. 

The World Health Organization (WHO) has published the new edition of its Model List of Essential Medicines which includes ground-breaking new treatments for hepatitis C, a variety of cancers (including breast cancer and leukaemia) and multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (TB), among others.

The 68th World Health Assembly is approaching, taking place on 18-26 May in Geneva. Most WHA papers have now been published online and can be accessed here. Official discussions on NCDs are scheduled for Friday 22 and Saturday 23 May. The NCD Alliance has compiled an advocacy briefing with key messaging on health and NCDs.

Today, 7 May, the President of the General Assembly, together with the UN’s Commission on Narcotic Drugs, will hold a high-level thematic debate in the lead-up to the April 2016 UN General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) on the World Drug Problem. The UNGASS will review progress in implementation of the 2009 Political Declaration and Plan of Action on International Cooperation towards an Integrated and Balanced Strategy to Counter the World Drug Problem.

The World Health Assembly (WHA) which will take place from 18th to the 26th May is now just a few weeks away. The official discussions on NCDs have been scheduled for Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd  and a wide range of NCD-related events will take place throughout the week.

The NCD Alliance is pleased to launch the French version of our new Advocacy Toolkit on NCDs in Post-2015 Development Agenda.

On Thursday 16th April, supporters of the NCD Alliance co-hosted two sessions at the 30th International Conference of Alzheimer's Disease International.

Food Revolution Day will be celebrated on 15 May 2015. It is a global campaign by Jamie Oliver to put compulsory practical food education back on the school curriculum and raise awareness about the global obesity epidemic.

Prior to next week’s drafting session for the outcome document of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development, the co-facilitators are holding informal hearings at the UN with the Business Sector and Civil Society to gather their views on financing and reactions to the Zero Draft of the outcome document.
