About IFPA

The International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA) is a global NGO uniting national and regional psoriasis patient associations around the world.

Psoriasis is a painful, severe, chronic noncommunicable disease caused by a dysfunction of the immune system, that affects more than 125 million people around the world. In addition to suffering from the disease’s typical manifestations, people living with psoriasis have an increased risk of co-morbidities, like diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The impact on mental health can also be significant.

IFPA was founded in 1971 and currently counts over 55 member associations around the world.

IFPA's activities

At the global level, IFPA advocates in international arenas to promote policy interventions that will ultimately improve the lives of people living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

At the national and regional level, IFPA empowers the members and supports their activities by providing toolkits and facilitating the exchange of ideas, within the NCD framework.

IFPA cooperates with relevant stakeholders, like the medical society, corporate actors and other non-profit organisations.

IFPA is the promoter of World Psoriasis Day, an annual day dedicated to people living with psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis celebrated on October 29.

IFPA is also the organiser of the World Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis Conference, an established scientific conference where the latest developments in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis research are presented.
