Description

Oral health and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) do not exist in isolation. It is widely acknowledged that oral diseases and other NCDs are closely linked and share modifiable common risk factors, including unhealthy diets high in sugar, tobacco use and alcohol consumption. No country can end the NCD epidemic unless it effectively addresses oral health. Integrated rather than disease-specific responses are therefore needed in order to effectively address the NCD burden. This webinar co-hosted by FDI World Dental Federation and NCD Alliance focused on how the oral health and broader NCD community can accomplish their common goals by working together.

Specifically, it outlined the status and priorities of the global health agenda, as well as opportunities for action. The webinar featured two case studies from an FDI national dental association and a national NCD alliance offering insights and tangible examples of integrating oral health into the NCD response.
