Description

The main objective of this training is to develop and strengthen the skills and knowledge of advocates and NCD alliances in coalition building to achieve advocacy goals and objectives. The training will leverage existing Advocacy Institute resources regarding building effective alliances as well as strategic advocacy planning. The training will allow for fruitful experience sharing between participants navigating within different national and regional contexts.

The NCDA Advocacy Institute's Seed Programme trainings in 2023 are for selected member alliances on the Seed programme to help them strengthen their activities and coalition building efforts in the NCD space. They are also open to NCDA member organisations and alliances as a benefit to support their advocacy and capacity development efforts. The moment for caring: How can NCD Alliance members build momentum ahead of the Global Week for Action?

This workshop brought together and mobilised roughly 75 members of the NCD Alliance network as we campaign together towards the annual Global Week for Action campaign, with the 2023 theme of Bridging the NCD care gap. It provided an overview of the Universal Health Coverage advocacy landscape, explored members’ current advocacy efforts towards closing the NCD care gap and achieving UHC and how they are adapting GW4A UHC Advocacy Priorities and Asks to support their work in country and provided member-led guidance on ways to carry out advocacy campaigning adapted to local contexts and aimed at key stakeholder groups. It combined the audiences of the three Peer Learning Advocacy Networks (PLANs) and the Advocacy Institute participating alliances.
Digital practical guide to advocacy will strengthen civil society action for noncommunicable diseases

NCDA has launched a digital version of its Practical Guide to Strategic Advocacy Planning that includes videos, tools and case studies to support civil society action for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).
Grant Writing and Project Management - Session 3

This virtual training aimed to introduce alliances in the Advocacy Institute seed programme to project cycle management and grant proposal writing practices to efficiently and timely respond to funding opportunities when they arise. Session 3 focused on project implementation, specifically the delivery phase. It will introduce theory, tools and templates for effective work management and team communication. We will also discuss project evaluation and closure, with a focus on sustainability.
Grant Writing and Project Management - Session 2

This virtual training aimed to introduce alliances in the Advocacy Institute seed programme to project cycle management and grant proposal writing practices to efficiently and timely respond to funding opportunities when they arise. Session 2 focused on project planning, specifically the inception phase. It covered the key preparations for work plans, resources, and staff that need to be made during the planning period. It also focused on defining key outcomes, outputs, and criteria of success and the monitoring and evaluation systems for tracking work progress.
