Each card in this set briefly focuses on one of the five gaps identified as priority areas of action for civil society to help to bridge the gap on NCDs: Leadership, Accountability, Investment, Care, and Community Engagement. Each card introduces the NCD Civil Society Compass for Bridging the Gap on NCDs, provides an overview of what the gap is about, and proposes actions for civil society to consider taking in order to accelerate progress ahead of 2025 target deadlines. Civil Society advocates can use them separately or as a set to support planning, coordination and advocacy.
This webinar provided an overview of WHO’s Executive Board 146th session (including updates on cervical cancer elimination strategy, alcohol control, integrated eye care and the involvement of non-state actors in WHO’s governing bodies) and PMAC 2020, a recap of the Global NCD Alliance Forum 2020, and information about on to engage with World Obesity Day (4 March 4, 2020).
The Toolkit provides background on the concept of accountability to the NCD civil society community, and resources to support civil society monitoring initiatives. The 2020 Toolkit is an update from a previous version from 2013, which included a benchmarking tool that was used by several national and regional alliances to produce civil society status reports in the lead up the 2014 UN High-Level Review.
This discussion paper outlines the gaps in the first decade of the NCD response. Calling on the experience of NCD Alliance’s global network of people living with NCDs, advocates, campaigners and experts collected via several surveys, as well as the latest data from the World Health Organization and peer reviewed literature, the following pages identify what has been lost in translation of the global targets for NCD reduction and describe the major barriers to meaningful progress.

This webinar focused on the risk factors, prevalence and burden of NCDs and the fragile and crisis-affected contexts in humanitarian settings, where health systems have significant difficulties in addressing them.
This briefing illustrates that actions taken around the world can bring some quick wins for health. Local, national and regional air pollution policies not only benefit air quality in cities, but also have important and immediate health co-benefits and are important for mitigating global climate change in the longer-term.
