WHA Individual Statement: Health in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
NCDA welcomes the Director-General’s update, including progress in SDG indicator data coverage and the revision of UHC indicators in 2025. While we commend Member States for being on track to reduce per capita alcohol consumption by 20% by 2030, we remain concerned that the world is off track on all health related SDGs. Insufficient action on NCDs continues to slow progress toward the target of a one- third reduction in premature NCD mortality, and in some contexts, we are witnessing stagnation or reversal. We urge Member States to accelerate action on NCD risk factors by investing in prevention, strengthening accessible health systems, and reinforcing health information systems, accountability, and real-time, disaggregated data use to support meaningful stakeholder engagement and SDG implementation.
