WHA79 Statement: Draft Strategy on the Economics of Health for All

WHO's strategy on the economics of health for all offers a vital shift, positioning health as an investment, not a cost. This is urgent: noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), the world’s biggest killers, will cost the global economy an estimated 47 trillion USD between 2010-2030. Conversely, NCD "best buys" have a high return-on-investment.

This statement was coordinated by NCD Alliance, and supported by Women in Global Health, Global Health Council, International Diabetes Federation, Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRFI), World Heart Federation, World Stroke Organization, International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations (IAPO), Vital Strategies, Multiple Sclerosis International Federation and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
