Accelerator Programme

The NCD Advocacy Institute’s Accelerator Programme seeks to increase the capacity of established national NCD alliances to drive effective in-country NCD advocacy.

Over the course of three years, accelerator programme partners will be supported with grants, technical assistance, in-person workshops, expert and peer support designed to boost strategic advocacy efforts.

The NCD Advocacy Institute’s Accelerator Programme was launched in early 2017 to actively involve national NCD alliances in global advocacy efforts – including opportunities afforded by the 2018 UN High Level Meeting on NCDs - and showcase national action at regional and global fora.

It promotes the sustainability of NCD alliances and looks to increase their legitimacy and relevance, including by broadening their bases of support, strengthening external engagement, involving non-health actors, and mobilising grassroots.

The Accelerator Programme includes a Food and Nutrition Working Group that pools the collective advocacy expertise amongst the participating alliances to offer in-depth technical assistance and peer support.

To support optimal alliance functioning for advocacy purposes, the Accelerator Programme offers tailored support to each unique NCD alliance.
