The Advocacy Institute’s Seed Programme is a multi-year initiative that promotes and supports national NCD coalition-building to establish the foundations for effective advocacy.

NCDA offers annual training sessions to cover topics related to coalition-building, setting foundations to advocacy, communications and financial management.

NCD Alliance’s (NCDA) NCD Atlas 2020 - Bridging the Gap on NCDs Through Civil Society Action showed that the scope for civil society engagement in the NCD response could be enhanced by improving NCD alliances’ capacity in monitoring of government policies/commitments, strengthening advocacy efforts and promoting meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs.

In light of these needs, from 2020 NCDA has expanded its Seed Programme training offering to NCD alliances and other NCDA members, by organising airtual training sessions, with the aim of strengthening skills on communications, advocacy, accountability, financial management and others.

 

2020 Seed Programme Virtual Training

The Seed Programme Virtual Training 2020 was held virtually across four sessions covering identified capacity needs of alliances:

  • Session 1 - Promoting accountability through NCD civil society (July 2020)
  • Session 2- Advocating in an online environment (August 2020)
  • Session 3 - Promoting meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs (October 2020)
  • Session 4 - Strengthening financial management of NCD civil society (December 2020)

2021 Seed Programme Virtual Training

Seed Programme Virtual Training 2021 continues to strenghten the capacity of NCD alliances through three sessions covering identified capacity needs:

  • Session 1 – Connecting the dots between global and regional and national NCD advocacy (July 2021)
  • Session 2 – Financial Management and Sustainability (August 2021)
  • Session 3 – WHO Best Buys 101 - Unpacking the recommended interventions on NCD prevention and control (September 2021)

Training offered as part of the 1st phase of the Advocacy Institute (2017 – 2019)

The training offered as part of the Advocacy Institute was divided into three in-person workshops held in 2017, 2018 and 2019 covering the themes of coalition building, advocacy, communications and fundraising.
